My Thoughts on Fall

My Thoughts on Fall

The Fall Edit: Trends to Know (and Wear) Now

There’s something about fall that feels like a reset. The air shifts. Our calendars fill. Our wardrobes ask for a little more intention. And suddenly, the simple act of getting dressed feels less like a routine—and more like a ritual.

As I sifted through the early signs of fall—espresso tones, buttery knits, denim that finally fits like a dream—I realized something: this season isn’t about reinventing. It’s about refining. Let’s talk about what’s speaking to me. Whether you're refreshing your everyday wardrobe or looking to invest in a few standout pieces, these are the trends to keep on your radar:

1. Understated Color, Elevated Impact

This fall, color is whispering instead of shouting. We’re seeing a shift toward softer, more unexpected neutrals. Butter yellow, rich espresso, soft stone, and powder blues are the tones to know. These muted shades feel fresh yet timeless—easy to pair, and even easier to wear. Who knew fall could be this soft?

2. Textural Layers

There’s a quiet power in texture. A soft cashmere, a crisp cotton, a subtly ribbed knit. When layered together, these elements bring unexpected dimension and depth. And isn’t that what great style does? It tells a story—without saying a word. We are looking at soft knits, buttery suedes, and thick canvases.

3. Denim Done Right

Fall denim is getting a refresh—kind of. This season, it’s about dark washes, full-length cuts, and elevated basics from brands that focus on fit and fabric. A great pair of jeans can anchor your whole wardrobe—don’t be afraid to invest. Think clean lines, medium and dark washes, and minimal destruction. We are still seeing the straight leg and wide leg continue as well as the taper/barrel silhouette.

4. Tailored, but Relaxed

Blazers are back—but they’re not the only ones making a return. This season, expect to see barn jackets stepping into the spotlight again alongside sleek faux leather bombers. The key is in the shape: think fresh, modern silhouettes with cinched waists, exaggerated proportions, and an ease that feels effortless. I want jackets you can toss on without a second thought and I also want jackets that somehow still turn heads and spark the inevitable “Where did you get that?” moment. Pair your jackets with jeans for an easy look or over a slip dress or hoodie for when a more unique moment calls.

5. The Twist: One Thing Unexpected

Here’s where the fun comes in. After curating all those polished, layered, tonal looks—add something just a little… offbeat. A pop of electric blue against your espresso coat. A sculptural earring or necklace that starts conversations. A handbag in a shape that feels more art piece than accessory. The magic of fall style is that it thrives on contrast—and sometimes, the most “you” element is the one no one saw coming.

So What Now?

Take an inventory and refresh your basics. Then, start with one or two statement pieces that speak to your style. A pop-of-color knit, a new accessory, or a standout coat can instantly update your wardrobe without overhauling it. And remember—personal style > chasing trends.

Fall is all about feeling confident, layered, and just a little bit luxe.
